The AAK’s e-research, matricula-historia-online service makes it possible to browse/research mainly archival sources recorded on digital pictures with the aid of the internet. For researchers familiar with the world of archives we can compare this process to ”digital microfilming”, because it is not text databases (transcribed sources or metadata) that can be searched/used, but the photo copies of the original sources can be read, as it used to happen in case of microfilm readers.
