COMMUNIO – ESTABLISHING THE FAMILY AND LOCAL HISTORY DATABASE OF THE AAK
Since 2009 we have been working on establishing the 18-20th century family and local history database of the AAK. Its digitized picture collection is based on the historical sources of the parishes. The project was named Communio (= community), because this notion is the stem of our topic: the primary human community is the family that finds its environment that determines its daily life in the local community. Because in historical distances the church can be regarded as one of the most important community organizer force, it is not surprising that our parishes are generally rich in sources related to the topic.
